The Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) course complies with all the requirements and regulations of the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) and includes training for both alcohol screening and confirmation testing procedures. This course covers all policies, regulations, and procedures regarding alcohol screening using both breathalyzers and oral fluid devices.

Initial Proficiency Demonstration (IPD)

This course does require an IPD which involves the trainee performing a number of error-free breathalyzer tests in a mock test environment.  This mock test is conducted live via webcam with a DATAC auditor who will observe you perform the mock tests on a donor of your choosing.

  • Webcam
  • Headset with microphone
  • High-speed internet connection
  • DOT Evidential Breath Testing device (EBT)
  • Device training certificate for the EBT issued by the manufacturer
  • 10 alcohol testing forms (ATF)
  • 20 breathalyzer mouthpieces

Prerequisites

  • You must provide proof of Device Qualification Training (DQT) on the Evidential Breath Tester (EBT) that you are using for your IPD.

Time Limit

  • Course must be completed within 30 days from date of registration.
  • Upon completion of this course, you will receive a DATAC Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certificate and an official DATAC collector ID card.
