What’s an observed mock test?

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) requires that for the Certified DOT Specimen Collector (CDSC), DOT OF Collection Certification, Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT), Screening Test Technician (STT), and Error Correction Training courses that one of our training auditors observe you perform a number of error-free tests on a real, live person. This is done via webcam using Google Meets. You will need to have an email that can access Google. If you are using a computer to access the Google meet you do not need to download anything, if you are using your phone then you will need to download the Google Meets application.

Mock Testing Information

Certified DOT Specimen Collector (CDSC)

• Five (5) error free mock collections of urine specimens for the purpose of drug testing.
• Completion of the paperwork, DOT Custody and Control Forms (CCF), which are then sent in for marking.

Certified DOT Oral Fluid Specimen Collector (CDSC)

• Five (5) error free mock collections of urine specimens for the purpose of drug testing.
• Completion of the paperwork, DOT Custody and Control Forms (CCF), which are then sent in for marking.

Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)

• Seven (7) error free mock collections of breath samples for the purpose of alcohol testing.
• Completion of the paperwork, DOT Alcohol Testing Forms (ATF), which are then sent in for marking.

Screening Test Technician (STT)

• Five (5) error free mock collections of breath or oral fluid (saliva) samples for the purpose of alcohol testing.
• Completion of the paperwork, DOT Alcohol Testing Forms (ATF), which are then sent in for marking.

Error Correction Training

• ECT requires three (3) error free mock collection done by the collector, either a BAT, STT, CDSC or OF CDSC, who has made a Fatal Flaw during a collection which led to a test being cancelled.
• The collector will need to complete their paperwork on the relevant DOT forms (ATFs or CCFs, respectively), and then send those in for marking to complete the ECT.

How do you send in the CCFs or ATFs?

Once the mock test is completed you will have the option to upload them to DATAC, or you can simply email them to support@datac.ca  

The Certified Specimen Collector Course, the DER course, and the SAT course DO NOT REQUIRE MOCK TESTING.
